Stockland Church Project

A new volunteer Jo started this month. Jo is doing a reminiscing session both in a group and spending individual time with residents. Jo has been able to familiarise herself with most residents already, and we are looking forward to her coming in twice a month. We really appreciate people who can bring an extra something into the home, making it a more interesting and diverse environment for our residents.

An exciting new development is the Stockland Church project, which will include activities that will take place in the church for our residents and the wider community. It will be exciting to work with the activities organiser they are appointing for three years to get activities and groups started. This will mean we can easily take residents that are interested in a particular activity to the event, as the church is walking distance from The Vicarage.

Chris joined us and played his guitar which everyone enjoyed and Chris our regular organist visited and played a lovely selection of tunes.

We had a lovely Epiphany church and communion service, where we got to sing some last carols. Thank you to our resident organist for playing the organ for the hymns.

Rene and Ellie our college students have been coming in generally once a week, but they did have a whole week in the home this month and conducted some of their own activities which went down well with the residents.

We have started to think about what residents would like to grow in the garden and buy a few seeds in preparation.

There has been a fair amount of sunshine around, and some residents have regularly wrapped up well and ventured out for a walk. We have also been for some trips around our local countryside.

Two residents from Cannington have also been joining in with the Thursday coffee morning at the church there.

In art and craft this month residents decorated glass jars to use as posy holders or to hold LED lights, and a selection of cards for special occasions were made, which looked bright and cheerful.

Quizzes, board games, exercise and bingo have been happening throughout the month.
