The snowdrops are looking lovely in the garden and a few other plants are also starting to blossom making it feel that spring is just around the corner.
Our Christmas decorations came down making the home look bare so in art and craft this month we have cheered it up and made snowdrops for the dining room tables and they look very effective.
We have had some great music; Chris Clark came in to play his guitar, and we had a good sing along to some favourites. Chris Knight joined us on another occasion and played the organ again for us. Dave Milton returned and sang some very entertaining sea shanties.
Our church service was lovely with a few last Carols for Epiphany and communion.
Every Friday we have Flexercise which is a good exercise warm up session for everyone. We have enjoyed active games which included skittles, tin cans, darts, throwing with bean bags, balls and hoops, darts and bat and ball. All great for eye and hand coordination.
To exercise our brains, we have had quizzes and reminiscing sessions and read poetry and stories. We played a new game called Scattergories which had a list of categories for each team, then after rolling a dice with all the letters on it, the letter it rolled was the letter the answers had to begin with, like an item in your purse etc.. everyone had good fun, we have played a similar game in the past but this one was a little more challenging and everyone enjoyed it.
Board games are popular at the moment, our volunteer Sue has continued to come in and assist with a game of scrabble, so the residents are improving their skills and enjoying it. Our Haygrove student; Caitlin has been a great help with activities.
We will soon have to think about the garden and what we are going to grow this year, maybe we'll try some different vegetables or fruit.
