Merry Christmas Everyone

The Christmas preparations throughout the month were very busy.

We made some very effective tree decorations for a tree festival in Stogursey church and we enjoyed decorating 'The Vicarage' tree.

In another Christmas art and craft session we had a wonderful wreath making afternoon with a couple who came from the Combwich gardening club. Several lovely wreaths were made from making small bundles of foliage and interlocking them, a swag was made for the dining room in the same way, they all looked fantastic. We also put some foliage on our lanterns and in our table decorations.

One of our residents kindly donated a nativity set for us, it was knitted by the Women's Union and is a lovely edition to our Christmas decorations.

We have had some very uplifting music and Andy Douglas started off the festive music with his guitar playing. The Bridgwater Strummers came and performed a lively variety of tunes, we had different instruments to join in with too. The residents had a great hour's entertainment, and we look forward to seeing them next year.

Steve Holford joined us for an afternoon of singing, and Freddie, a young violinist gave us a magical and captivating performance, which brought tears to our eyes.

We had a wonderful Christmas Carol service, and it was lovely to see so many families join us. The lounge was full of people, and it was such a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed mince pies and refreshments afterwards. Chris joined us playing the organ for our Christmas party on Christmas Eve.

There are few residents venturing out into the garden, but we did manage to empty our tubs and plant some late bulbs, the garlics and onions look like they are coming on slowly.

The weather hasn't been that good for getting out and about in the car, but some residents managed to get to the Stockland craft fair, which they enjoyed and were able to buy a few Christmas presents.

We visited the Combwich market where there were a lot of Christmas stalls and more opportunities for the residents to buy Christmas presents.

Everyone enjoyed different board games, quizzes, exercise and bingo as usual.
