How good it is to finally feel some summer. It's great we have so much shade in the garden on these recent hot days and the residents have enjoyed many of the social activities outside. The house remains quite cool with many residents enjoying a great start to the Olympics.
A big thank you to everyone who came to our fete. It is the first one we've had in many years. We had planned one a few years ago, then the Pandemic came and the idea and bric a brac items were stored away for another day. But the sun shone for us and we were able to have tea and cake in the garden. We raised the wonderful sum of £268.40 for the church, which was well worth the effort, residents enjoyed the day and hopefully it will be an event we can put on every year. Thank you to all the staff, residents and families who also helped throughout the afternoon, it was certainly a team effort.
The vegetables have done really well and so far we have harvested courgettes, new potatoes and kohlrabi.
Andy Douglas came and played some music on guitar and ukulele which everyone enjoyed and we had a 60s summer classics afternoon, with some residents and staff up and dancing.
We had a lovely church service and communion with our resident organist playing for the hymns. Another popular entertainer; Chris joined us again, playing the organ which was great and Steve Holford came in to sing which is always a favourite.
In art and craft residents made a general small card they could give on various occasions; the end results were very effective.
Residents have enjoyed quizzes, lollipop bingo, various games, including scrabble and the matching game Rhyme and flexercise. Thank you as always to our full-time activities co-ordinator Louise who has endless ideas to bring variety to the daily activities.
Congratulations !!!!!
