Congratulations !!!!!

Congratulations to our Deputy Manager; Leah who had her graduation ceremony this month following her Level 5 Diploma Award in Leadership and Management. A fantastic achievement when also working full time.

Congratulations also to Kelly who has achieved her Level 3 Diploma in Care.

The evenings are drawing in, but some days have still been quite sunny and residents have been walking around the garden or sitting out in the afternoon sunshine.

The tomatoes are still ripening in the green house and we have even had a few cucumbers.

Rene and Ellie; students from Bridgwater doing a course in Health and Social Care have been coming in to help on a Monday, the residents enjoy the extra support they get with board games and other activities, and also enjoy their company.

Two residents accompanied our social activities manager to the Combwich garden club. There was a Halloween flavour to the meeting with some lovely nibbles and punch, both ladies won a prize with the raffle and everyone had an enjoyable evening.

Some residents enjoyed a drive on the Quantocks and also a trip to the Combwich farmers market on a Saturday morning, bacon butties were enjoyed and it was lovely looking around the stalls and buying a few gifts and talking to other folks, we shall certainly do it again.

Reverend Alison came in and gave us a lovely Harvest Service, with some great hymns that our resident organist accompanied. He also played the organ for a morning of sing a long songs, and our usual entertainers came in and gave us a great variety of music and songs which many residents were singing along to. As always we all enjoyed Hazel with her harp, a firm favourite of everyone with her beautiful, soulful music.

One of our neighbours from the village; Jenny came in to help everyone with making lanterns which we could decorate for Halloween. They had a wicker construction and then were covered with white tissue paper that had been coated with water and PVA. After that had dried, residents were able to decorate with bats and spiders they had made previously together with autumn leaves and coloured streamers. Lights were put inside to illuminate them, they were very effective and festive around the home.
